Meet The Experts

BPACs team of consultants consists of a number of experts, all leading names in respective fields. This team is lead by Martin Milner and Professor Sean Smith.

Professor Sean Smith is Professor of Construction Innovation at the Building Performance Centre, Edinburgh Napier University and Senior Acoustic Consultant for the Robin Mackenzie Partnership www.rmp.biz. He is a Research Council UK Academic Fellow in Timber Engineering and is module leader for the Masters in Architectural Technology and Building Performance, at Edinburgh Napier University. He is an external technical advisor for Robust Details Ltd.

He has worked with over 200 companies across Europe and has also undertaken works for companies in New Zealand and North America. He has served as an external advisor to the Belgian Government Science Policy Unit and is currently UK representative on the EU COST< program Harmonisation of Sound Insulation Criteria for Sustainable Urban Development.

His UK research projects include technical research reports for Defra, Scottish Executive, Scottish Government and Scottish Building Standards Agency. During 2002-2004 he was co-project manager of the House Builders Federation Robust Standards Details Project.

Martin Milner - MSc. CEng. MICE. MIStructE

Technical Director and a leading specialist timber engineering consultant.
Has held a number of high profile roles within the UK engineering and timber frame industry.  Roles include former Managing Director of CCB Evolution and Head of Timber Engineering at Timber Research and Development Association (TRADA) – specialist group that provided specialist consultancy and industry research relating to timber in construction.
